Alexandra Zimmermann has been Director of the Centre for Human Rights since 2023. Her work focuses on the intersection of business and human rights. She provides human rights due diligence consulting for a wide array of actors including companies, associations, and the government, particularly with regard to their obligations and responsibilities along the supply chain.
Alexandra Zimmermann studied law at the University of Basel and formerly headed the legal services of the Parliamentary Services of the Cantonal Parliament of Basel-Stadt. She worked at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) in Italy, with a focus on social peace, development, and political stability. In addition to her role at the Centre, she teaches seminars on fundamental and constitutional law at the University of Basel and is pursuing a PhD in the field of human trafficking from a human rights perspective.
