Remo Messerli is a lawyer specialising in Swiss law and the interplay between business and human rights. After obtaining his Master of Law (MLaw) from the University of Zurich, he completed the LL.M. program "Globalisation and Law" with a specialisation in international human rights law at Maastricht University, where wrote his master's thesis on stabilisation clauses in international investment treaties and their implications for human rights in developing countries.

He has professional experience with the United Nations in Cambodia, Swiss judicial authorities, and national as well as international law firms. In addition to his work at the Centre for Human Rights, he is writing his dissertation on  the topic of international space law (working title: Jus Ad Astra: The Regulation of Lunar New Space Activities).
